Evaluation of diatomaceous earth in the removal of crystal violet dye in solution

In this research, the adsorption capacity of diatomaceous earth in removal crystal violet dye (CV) aqueous solution was evaluated. The experimental methodology began with determination texture properties by adsorption-desorption isotherms N2 a 77 K, identification functional groups Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FTIR), morphology scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and, pH isoelectric point zero charge (PZC). A categorical multifactorial design developed factors such as initial concentration (300-1000 mg/dm3), temperature (30, 35 and 40ºC) (5, 6, 7 8). maximum 96.1 mg/g up 30ºC 8, satisfactorily fitting data to Langmuir isotherm model R2 = 0.99, suggesting monolayer mechanism on homogeneous surface. conclusion, can be considered an efficient adsorbent CV solution.
